First time in Jhansi division that an FPO product has been awarded AGMARK
Government schemes expanding the scope of agribusiness in Bundelkhand
Jhansi: The Uttar Pradesh government continues its sustained efforts to promote agro-production and agribusiness in the Bundelkhand region. In a significant achievement facilitated by the Yogi Adityanath-led government, a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) from Jhansi has successfully obtained AGMARK certification for two categories of products.
AGMARK is a quality certification issued by the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. It ensures that food products meet prescribed quality standards.
The Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Farmer Producer Company Limited, located in Chirgaon Dehat of Jhansi district, has been granted AGMARK certification for its foodgrain and spice products. The Uttar Pradesh government’s Department of Agricultural Marketing and Agricultural Foreign Trade played a key role in supporting the FPO through the application process. The application was forwarded to the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection, following which AGMARK certification was approved for both product categories.
This marks the first time that an FPO in the Jhansi division has received AGMARK certification, a milestone expected to strengthen farmers’ confidence and market access.

Director of Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Farmer Producer Company Limited, Pooja Rajput, said that around 300 farmers are currently associated with the FPO. At present, the organisation is producing turmeric, coriander, chilli, and poha. She added that more products will be introduced in the future with the objective of providing quality food products to consumers while enhancing farmers’ incomes.
Senior Agricultural Marketing Inspector of Jhansi, Prakhar Kumar, stated that AGMARK certifies the quality of products through a well-defined and regulated process. He noted that the use of AGMARK ensures consistency, quality assurance, and greater trust among consumers.
Officials believe that such initiatives will further expand the agribusiness ecosystem in Bundelkhand and open new avenues for farmer-led enterprises across the region.
